The Prescribing and Providing Medicines Advice programme provides information about prescribing and providing medicines advice. It is aimed at Public Health England (PHE) personnel who provide advice to prescribers, health care professionals and the public, for example those based in PHE Centres, the PHE National Infection service and occupational health.
This course is for overseas (non-EEA) pharmacists who wish to convert their existing qualifications so they can practice as a pharmacist in Great Britain
The course is designed for qualified pharmacists outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or who hold an EEA pharmacist qualification which is not a relevant qualification (other than a UK-recognised pharmacist qualification) who are looking to become registered pharmacists in the UK. It's one of a small number of courses that are accredited by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
Research study in this area involves understanding of physiological regulation and disease processes, identifying and validating novel drug targets, mechanisms of drug action.

Our Enhanced Prescribing for Pharmacists module is taught at masters level (level 7). You will develop the knowledge and skills to assess patients’ health conditions, make informed clinical decisions, and prescribe appropriate medications safely and effectively within your defined scope of practice.
The aim of this programme is to support the development of your prescribing-related skills and knowledge to extend your scope of prescribing practice. It focuses on extending prescribing practice; we will assume that you are currently prescribing and are familiar with the underlying principles and guidance relating to prescribing.
We aim to ensure that the course delivers outcomes which meet the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) Competency Framework for all Prescribers (2021) adopted by the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC), Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) and General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
