This Research Applied to Practice Level 7 module, validated by the University of Hertfordshire, will enable students to focus upon the application of aspects of research and evidence-based practice which are relevant to their specific area of study, discipline and clinical setting. Students will enhance their skills and expertise to identify, access and appraise knowledge, literature and research evidence from a wealth of sources and contextualise it within practice. During the module, students will seek to ensure that they have an understanding of the underpinning philosophy in order to critically appraise the findings relevant to their discipline.

Practitioners working at this level are involved in advancing respiratory related knowledge and informing policy, professional practice and academic debate. Clearly this can be achieved via involvement in original or primary research but more frequently is the result of identifying, accessing and critically appraising available research and evidence to evaluate the appropriateness and/or effectiveness in practice.
