Lactose intolerance is a common gastrointestinal disorder where the inability to digest lactose leads to symptoms such as bloating, abdominal pain and diarrhoea. In this CPD module we look at the causes, diagnosis and management of lactose intolerance and discuss the way it differs from cow’s milk allergy in young children. The module also includes practical advice for supporting a patient with lactose intolerance.
